As Alex Rodriguez hangs on the cusp of that glorious number 600, it gets harder and harder to deny that he is worth a Hall Of Fame bid as he progresses in his Major League Career. However, as we all know, he attatched a permanent gorilla to his back with his involvement in steroid use.
Our boy puts all of us between a rock and a hard place here. As phenomenal as his talent is, we will never forget the day Alex Rodriguez and steroid use were used in the same sentence. Now the question we all ask is, is 600 actually 600? Or is it 600*?
Needless to say, the game of Major League Baseball will be forever tainted with the smell of the juice. We will never forget Canseco… McGuire…Clemens… Sosa…Palmiero…BONDS… the numerous names of outstanding baseball players whose legacies have all been tarnished due to steroids.
Now can we actually sit here and still consider the fact that Alex Rodriguez achieved something remarkable while still thinking about the fact that he used steroids? Regardless of how he got it?
What will you do when he hits 600?
