The Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 1-0 Saturday night at Citizens Bank Ballpark. Johan Santana went 7 1/3 innings of scoreless ball. Jerry Manuel pulled Johan with one out in the top of the 8th, to bring in Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez.
... At this point, I was scared, bringing in K-rod for a five out save, while leading by only one run and two guys on, this was a gutsy move by Jerry to take out his ace, but it paid of big time…
K-Rod came in and was great walking one and giving up no hits.

The Least You Should Know:
- Johan Santana started for the Mets and was brilliant tonight, not allowing a hit for the first 5 2/3 innings and left with the lead intact with one out in the eighth inning.
- Jeff Francoeur gave the Mets the lead with an opposite field solo home run in the seventh inning.
- Francisco Rodriguez recorded a five out save(24) despite walking the tightrope once again after loading the bases in the eighth inning.
- Tonight was the first 1-0, nine inning victory for the Mets this season, although they were 0 for 9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.
…The Mets may be back on track they need to start winning series. It seems like with the Mets, and as a Met fan I have a different attitude everyday. They can not control if the Braves win or lose, the Mets can only focus on winning series. Once they start going on “runs” and winning consecutive series, maybe they can still make a run in September. As Tug McGraw would say, Ya GOTTA BELIEVE…
