Mets Part 1: Front Office

When the Wilpon family decided to relieve both Omar Minaya and Jerry Manuel of their current duties, they added a whole lot of respectability back to Queens. Minaya, having years still left on his contract, could come back and have a role within the organization, but it seems unlikely he would like to be involved in a front office that is so heavily crowded with General Managers.

The true General Manager, Sandy Alderson, was brought in to get the Mets crap together. A military veteran, Alderson is very organized and is going to point this ship to the correct destination. Upon his hiring, Alderson brought with him two friends of his, Paul DePodesta and J.P. Riccardi.

J.P. Riccardi worked under Alderson in Oakland in the 80’s when they won a championship with the team built around power hitters Jose Canseco, Mark McGuire and the best leadoff hitter ever Ricky Henderson. Riccardi was most recently the the General Manager of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Paul DePodesta, also has worked with Alderson, he did so when Alderson was the President of Baseball operations for the Padres just a few years ago.

These three Gentlelmen, join Jeff Wilpons buddy John Ricco, to form a quite crowded Front Office. Minaya has recieved an open invitation to either come back with the Mets to serve some role in scouting, or join the Arizona Diamondbacks organization.
