The Knicks looked fantastic against the Nets last night at Madison Square Garden and were honored in the last minute by the New York faithful with a standing ovation. Tommy Dee, of TheKNICKSblog, wrote a great wrapup.
“Mike D’Antoni has been criticized a tremendous amounts by Knicks fans, many of whom wanted Avery Johnson to get the nod instead. After watching the Nets coach performance tonight, it’s tough to argue who the right hire was.
At least tonight.
Johnson sat Brook Lopez, who was outstanding offensively tonight, on three occasions at the end of quarters, and the Knicks took advantage outscoring the Nets 17-3 at the end of those quarters en route to a 15 point lead after 3 periods. Those decisions were too much for the Nets to overcome.
What’s fair is fair.
The Knicks attacked the paint all night against the Knicks and got huge performances from Amar’e Stoudemire (72 points in his last 2 games), Raymond Felton and Wilson Chandler (27 and 11), who didn’t settle for 3s instead decided to attack the basket and exposed the Nets staggering lack of interior defense.“– Tommy Dee
