ESPN is reporting that the New Jersey Nets have agreed to a three-team deal sending Terrence Williams to the Houston Rockets and Joe Smith to the Los Angeles Lakers. In return the Nets have received two first round draft picks. Now the Nets have five first round picks through the 2012 season and are poised to offer a deal for Carmelo Anthony. The Nets were the closest to dealing for Anthony in the summer before the Nuggets decided to drop out of the discussions. Many speculated that Anthony would not accept an extension in order to complete the trade. Whatever the reason the Nets have not given up hope in acquiring the all-star forward , even though the New York Knicks are now believed to be the favorites, due to Anthony’s willingness to sign an extension with them.
