Mets Sign Byrdak to Minor League Contract

On Friday the New York Mets announced they have come to terms with LHP Tim Brydak.
Brydak went 2-2 in 64 appearances with an ERA of a 3.49. Left handed hitters hit just .213 against him last season.
Brydak is expected to battle with LHP Taylor Tankersley for the situational lefty, a gaping hole in the Mets bullpen since Pedro Feliciano hopped on the subway to the Bronx.
Byrdak received a minor league deal, so no moves has to be made to the Mets 40 man roster.
When OF Scott Hairston and SP Chris Young were added to the roster yesterday, some expected this might be the time to let one of Luis Castillo or Oliver Perez go. However they remained and are expected in camp as manager Terry Collins had said.
Instead of cutting Castillo or Perez it was Pitcher Tobi Stoner and OF Jason Pridie who were let go. The Mets have a week to trade them, or they will have to go through waivers where they can be picked up by any team.
