Luis Castillo Released Today

Luis Castillo was released today by the New York Mets. Castillo was traded to the Mets in the middle of 2007.In 365 games as a Met, Castillo batted .274 and hit just 5 homeruns, none of which came in 2010, his worst offensive performance. Last year Castillo hit .235, an a career low, but still managed to have his OBP relatively high at .337.

Alderson decided that it was time today to let go of Castillo, as Manager Terry Collins needs more time to evaluate the remaining candidates.
