Michael Vick will play on Sunday. These are the words the Giants least wanted to hear, after Vick left his week two game against the Falcons in the second quarter with a concussion. But Vick felt good in his two days of practice this week and says he is ready to go.
The Giants were not as lucky with regards to injuries. They announced that receiver Domenik Hixon will miss the rest of the season, and receiver Mario Manningham will miss this week with a concussion. This will leave Eli Manning with very few options to throw to. Hakeem Nicks is healthy for now, and the Giants signed veteran receiver Brandon Stokely last week. Victor Cruz, who knows the system better than Stokely, will also get a lot of playing time.
The Giants are really missing receiver Steve Smith who will be suiting up in green today instead of blue. Without him, Nicks, Stokely and Cruz will have to face three pro-bowl cornerbacks in Nnamdi Asomugha, Domonique Rogers-Cromartie, and Esante Samuel. The Giants will have to depend heavily on their run game if they are going to compete with the high-powered Eagles offense.
The Eagles have scored more than 30 points in each of their first two games, and even though both teams are 1-1 on the season, it is clear that the Eagles are playing much better football. The Giants will have to play a perfect game today to defeat their division rivals.
Projected score: Eagles 34, Giants 13
