The Toronto Raptors defeated the New York Knicks at the Garden 90-85 on Monday night. The Knicks (2-3) rallied late, but could not overcome their disastrous first half, including a second quarter in which the Knicks were outscored 28-11. F Carmelo Anthony kept the Knicks in the game with a team high 35 points and 11 rebounds. Melo sunk 4 three pointers on the night but with the game tied and 18 seconds remaining in the 4th quarter, he took a quick contested three which he fired off the back rim.
After a solid performance in Sacramento, Toney Douglas put up 22 points, and knocked down 4 three pointers of his own, three of which he drained to spark the Knicks comeback in the 3rd quarter. Douglas only turned the ball over once.
The Knicks were able to beat the Kings with six players in double figures without Stoudemire, but tonight his absence was clear with just three Knicks scoring ten or more. The Knicks attempted 35 3PFG, and drained just 10 (28.6%.) They were barely better from the floor, at just 36%.
